Kendall Trees - January 2017

While we had skied a solid number of days inbounds, I was itching to get a tour in. Dave suggested Kendall trees. While both of us had spent some time in Commonwealth basin, this was both of our first times touring Kendall. We were originally aiming for Kendall knob, but after realizing we had not cut right hard enough / early enough, we accepted our route-finding snafu and carried on the mellow PCT trail on the west side of Kendall. One run in the surprisingly dense trees, with a hard rain crust and skied-out lines had us packing for home. The infamous "up/down" luge track on the descent was as luge-y as I had heard it to be. Hard to call it bad, when you're having fun! The log bridge river crossing was an exciting ending to the day...

Not pictured: Tears of frustration (and laughter) attempting to ski (but mostly break through and fall) my first rain crust.
